Pattern artist? Read this.
I have noticed that patterns by different artists here at TSR are starting to be repeated. This is because the majority of artists here are getting their patterns from similar sources, myself included. If you get your pattern off the net in any form or fashion, duplicating another artist's pattern or having yours duplicated in the future is a possibility
Many of my patterns are my own design, though, the majority are patterns from free pattern sites and other online sources (both free and commercial).
As more and more patterns are submitted to TSR, the likelyhood of either myself duplicating a pattern someone else has already submitted, or someone duplicating mine will increase. And due to the volume of the patterns, it will be impossible to keep up with.
I will not apologize if I mistakenly publish a pattern that someone else has already used. Nor will I expect an apology from anyone else who uses the same pattern that I do. It is bound to happen under these circumstances. However, I promise if I am aware of an artist at TSR that has already done the same pattern, I will refrain from using it out of respect for that artist (unless, for example, theirs is only 1 recolorable palette when mine is many).
I will be trying to do more original patterns to avoid this issue, though I still may use patterns from these sources on occasion.
But if you get your created patterns online, anywhere, just be aware that it is a possibility -- that myself or another TSR pattern maker -- will make the same pattern someday. It is to be expected, and I hope there are no hard feelings if and when this happens.

Gotta love the flu...
Gotta love the flu, eh? Been down with it now for about a week, and ugh I am sick of it! On the bright side, when I haven't been sleeping (which I have averaged 12+ hours a day this last week, eep), I have been working on updating all of my previews of my patterns.
Been neglecting building lots again... keep getting wrapped up in making patterns that I keep putting off working on any new houses. I'll try to do some new stuff this week, 'cause I really need a break from Illustrator. I have a lot of ideas for houses, but once I start building in game I end up scrapping more than I keep.
I have also been watching a ton of Grey's Anatomy while I've been sick. I just started getting into it, had a few season 1 dvds mailed to me via Netflix, and I gota say I am actually liking it. Had to find something to watch, as a lot of my shows are no longer on the air (Battlestar Galactica just ended, boo!). Also gave 'Dead Like Me' a try, but since it was cancelled after it's second season, I haven't watched much of it.
As for TS3 goes... I really wish they'd get some decent meshing tools/tutorials out there that don't confuse the crap out of me. I'd love to get into meshing clothing/hair/furniture and other objects, but I've never done it before. I did see that someone sucessfully meshed a new hairstyle, which is pretty neat. If I ever figure it out for myself, I think my focus will probably be clothing meshes. I'm a tomboy, no doubt about that, but I love clothes. Go figure, eh?
Anyway, I'm gonna go watch another episode of Grey's, I think. Also getting sleepy, so more than likely I'll be heading to bed before long as well for another 12+ hour night of sleep. Good thing it's summer... I'd never get away with sleeping like this once school starts again (college).
A great pattern resource, Colourlovers.com
If you are a pattern maker, I suggest checking out this website: www.colourlovers.com
It is a great resource! I often have difficulty trying to figure out the best color palette to use in my patterns (for preview purposes, of course), and this website is awesome! Their users can post lists of colors that work well together. Definitely bookmark worthy, I suggest you check it out!
Whew, tomorrow will be a long day!
Tomorrow TSR is allowing us to edit our previous submissions, and I have a lot of work to do. I FINALLY made a preview image I am happy with, so tomorrow I will be spending the day re-doing all of my pattern submission images. *Faint*
I'd also like to say a quick thank you to those of you who have downloaded my patterns and 'loved' my work. I have a lot more in store -- but I am not going to do any more patterns (besides the ones that are pending, of course) until the preview images are sorted. I am somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to this sort of stuff, hence the changing preview image types... I just could not find something I was happy with. Finally glad I got that all sorted out.
I have also decided that my patterns will be exclusive to TSR. I have had too many problems with the official sims site to make me want to post there at all. I know a lot of the people there aren't happy with this site and refuse to download from it (don't ask me why, I don't get it), but I like it here. :)
