TSR Artist Alliance

You will automatically become a TSRAA member by setting the TSRAA attribute for one or several of your objects, walls, floors, or ground textures. Doing so, you allow lot builders to freely use these items in their lots which they upload to The Sims Resource.

The TSRAA (TSR Artists Alliance) is a large group of creators at TSR who allow some or all of their creations to be used in your uploaded lots at TSR without you needing to ask their permission first.

What is special about TSRAA is that all people who take part give their creations freely and without any special requirements whatsoever. This is an important distinction; all artists are free to allow their work used in any way they choose, but anyone using the TSRAA as a way of sharing is saying "use freely at TSR in whichever way you like".

  • If you are uploading lots to TSR, then you can download (and use freely in your uploaded lots) any items marked as "TSRAA" without having to ask permission. You can quickly find TSRAA items by using the TSR "filter" box on the downloads page (simply tick the TSRAA box to view TSRAA-only creations).
  • You can include TSRAA items within Sims2Pack or zip files, but please do not make them available as separate downloads elsewhere. If anyone wants to download separate files not used in your lot, they must be downloaded from TSR separately.
  • Lots are checked by TSR staff before being uploaded to the file servers. Anyone found to be uploading lots purely for the purpose of mass-distributing Featured Artist content will have their creation removed immediately, and anyone found to be abusing TSRAA in this way may be banned from uploading any further lots at TSR.
  • Please remember that an artist name appearing in the TSRAA list does not indicate that ALL their items are TSRAA. Many artists only release a few of their creations as TSRAA, so please remember to check that the items you are using do state that they are TSRAA - otherwise you must seek the artist's permission before using their work.
  • If you are considering uploading your lots at any other site, please first check that the artist grants you permission to do so because TSRAA only applies to lots uploaded at TSR. Note: lots containing content by current Featured Artists must not be submitted to any website other than TSR.
  • While it is nice to receive credit, TSRAA members do not generally insist on being credited. You can instead give credit to "TSR Artists Alliance" or "TSRAA", though artists do appreciate individual credit.
  • If a creation is NOT marked as TSRAA, you might still be able to use it if you seek the artist's specific permission. If you use non-TSRAA work and have failed to obtain permission, TSR reserves the right to withdraw your lot.
  • Please respect the creator's wishes. Creators give their work voluntarily and no-one has the right to use anyone else's work unless the TSRAA box is ticked or the creator has given specific permission. If you discover that an artist no longer wishes to remain in TSRAA, please do not continue to use their work in future unless they give you explicit permission to do so (you will not be expected to withdraw past lots that use these items).

Allowing your work to be used in uploaded lots will be valued greatly by TSR's lot builders, but is entirely optional. If you DO want to allow your work to be used, you can do so with or without using TSRAA. So, for a better understanding of whether TSRAA is right for you, here's a simple checklist:

DO tick the TSRAA box if...

  1. You give your creation freely and without condition (that is: you wish to allow lot builders to use the creation freely in lots uploaded at TSR).
  2. You give freely, without any stipulation, and without any insistence on being credited (artists usually ARE credited, but we don't insist on this in the TSRAA).
  3. You don't mind how your work is packaged (that is, whether it is uploaded in the lot "package" file or in the containing zip file).
  4. You accept that, should you later change your mind and remove TSRAA status from your creations, you won't be able to insist that lots containing your work be removed if it is reasonably assumed that the downloader used your creations in good faith, believing them to be TSRAA at the time they were used. Builders are, however, expected to respect your wishes if it becomes known to them that your work is no longer TSRAA.

Don't tick the TSRAA box if...

  1. You don't permit your work to be used in uploaded lots at all.
  2. You don't mind people using your creations, but you have specific requirements (for example: artists must link to your creations, or must not include them in zips) or that only a specific group of people may use them.
  3. You DO want individual credit for your work.
  4. You are in any doubt whatsoever about allowing your work to be used in the longer term (people who download TSRAA items will assume that the items they download will remain as TSRAA and will have no way of knowing anything has changed unless you notify them). You have every right to withdraw from TSRAA, but it can be difficult to communicate the change across to people who downloaded your work as TSRAA.

Remember: TSRAA is only ONE form of allowing your work to be used freely. It is a special way of giving not suited to everyone, so please ONLY tick the TSRAA box if you really do mean you give freely, without any additional requirements. If you want to allow your work to be used but you prefer to stipulate requirements, then DONT tick the TSRAA box - use the NOTES box on the submission form instead, explaining what you will and won't permit. People who use your creations usually do so in gratitude and will do their best to respect your wishes. Only tick the TSRAA box if you agree to all of the above.

TSRAA Artists:

Please bear in mind that not all TSR artists are happy for their creations to be used. If you would like to use items created by an artist who isnt listed here, be sure to ask their permission first. Note that the people listed might only allow SOME of their work to be used, so please check individual items before using them unless you already know that a particular artist marks all their creations as TSRAA (as many do).
