The first Stuart Monarch, James was the son of Mary, Queen of Scots and Henry Stuart, Earl of Darnley. A devout and wise Protestant, James is best known for the King James Bible which is still in circulation unchanged today. However, James rarely washed and it was said, preferred young men to women. Still he proved a good King and the anniversary of "The Gunpowder Plot" is still celebrated in England as Guy Fawkes Day.

This is smaller than the other wall-length portraits, but still effective in home or palace,
