October is POTS Awareness Month. Postural Tachycardia Syndrome is a disorder of the autonomic nervous system.
People with the condition experience a sharp increase in heart rate after standing up.
POTS can cause a variety of symptoms, including lightheadedness, brain fog, blurred vision, weakness, fatigue, headache, heart palpitations, intolerance to exercise, nausea, difficulty concentrating, shivering (tremors), syncope (fainting), cold or pain in the extremities, numbness or tingling in the extremities, chest pain and shortness of breath.
