No, you're not changing the mesh when you alter the alpha file. You're just altering what shows on the sim. Anything white shows and anything black doesn't. And anything gray kinda shows....which is good when you want to change the transparency. For example, if you wanted to make an outfit that has sheer sleeves, you could alter the alpha and make the sleeve area gray...or different shades of gray depending on how much transparency you want.

Hi again....regarding your question on creators saying not to modify their mesh files...I think a lot of them put that in there meaning that they don't want someone to take one of their meshes and then clone it and redistribute it either here or on another site under your name. Most creators that I've seen here, will put that it's ok to recolor a mesh, they just don't want you to clone it and then resubmit here as your own. Does that make any sense? So if you're just playing around with the texture files and are trying to recolor....that's fine. You just have to give the original mesh creator credit when you upload a recolor of someone's mesh. Once you start making your own meshes, you'll understand better what I'm talking about. You wouldn't want someone to clone the mesh that you worked so hard on and then submit it here as there own.

Thanks for taking the time to comment on my Clothing Tutorial. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Photoshop is expensive, but I'm sure there are other programs out there that you can try to apply several of the techniques I talked about in the tutorial. You just may have to improvise a little.

Hi! Sorry for a lond silence I was on vacation Hmmm... I've started to creat Sims outfits when Sims 2 was released. First creations was very badlooking, but I was trying. I looked through the internet for Photoshop tutorials, found something on MTS and so on. You need practice and patience Good luck!
