8 yr old Susan Walker doesn't believe in Santa Claus, but when her friend Mr. Kringle asks her what she wants for Christmas she shows him a picture of a sweet little Cape Cod house. It's the kind of house lots of young families are buying in 1947, but Susan's mom, Doris, is divorced and works at a big New York department store. The solution to Susan's problem seems to be Fred,the nice young man next door. Well, of course, miracles do happen - in Hollywood movies, at least. Fred helps prove Mr. Kringle's real identity and Susan and her Mom learn to believe. Plus the little Cape Cod becomes their new home.
