Anne Boleyn calculating her next move
Published Oct 19, 2007
Anne Boleyn had looked around the room, it wouldn't be long now and she would become his wife. Queen Catherine's untimely death came when the "sweating sickness" passed through. Henry had been quite prepared to divorce his spanish wife, now it was unnecessary. She had given him five daughters, and no sons. Though they were all very beautiful, the eldest Margaret was safely married off to Henry, a portugese prince, a distant cousin of the former queen. Joanna, the second daughter was most loved by her father. She was his favorite, a stunning beauty with golden hair, she was an excellent dancer, singer, and musician. She was the height of grace and beauty. She doted upon her father, and she is quite clever. she was married off to Alessandro Szforza, an Italian prince a few months after her mother's death. Anne had to wait a year, for the people so loved Queen Katherine it was believed the King would quickly lose all favor with them were he to marry too soon. Beatriz, the third daughter was almost as lovely, but not as talented as Joanna. She was soon to be married to the Earl of Surrey. That meant Anne would have to keep her sights on the youngest daughters, Mary and Katherine. She would marry Henry and give him the son he so desired. Once she accomplished this, Henry would give her whatever she wished, for he would have what he coveted most . . . a male heir. Her son would displace all his daughters, then she could plot the downfall of her greatest enemy. (At least, that's how it happened in Mt. Pleasant)
