Sorry just a minor slip in that explanation. In the sentence starting 'When the Launcher appears . . . . . . . you have ready for . .' I typed 'download' instead of 'install'. The corrected sentence should read - When the Launcher appears, to to the Downloads tab and you will see any items you have ready for . . install. . .Select the ones you want . etc.etc.
Apologies for the oversight. Marg.

Hi and welcome to TSR.
You posted a query on my Study in Blue painting set - and thanks for your comment too - about putting them in your game. It is quite simple. Download the set zip file - or the individual ones if you have a preference for one or other of them - unzip the file and put the sims3pack files in your TS3 Downloads folder and then open the game. The TS3 Downloads folder is found here: C:/My Documents/Electronic Arts/TheSims3/Downloads. [this is the default location which the game chooses when you first install it. If you have changed that location, then obviously you will need to look to that place. When the Launcher appears, go to the Downloads tab and you will see any items you have ready for download. Select the ones you want, and click Install at the bottom of the page. Wait for the installation animations to finish, then contimue to open your game as usual. The paintings you have installed will be found under Decor/Miscellaneous/Paintings and Posters. [click on the Buy icon which looks like a lamp and chair and it opens your inventory of downloaded/default items - in the grey column on the left, choose the 'Sort by Function' icon, 2nd from top and then the Vase of Flowers icon far right . . and then the Paintings icon second from left. Browse the list until you find the painting you wish to use and click on it. It sounds complicated when written down step by step . . . but it really isn't once you have done it. I hope you enjoy the paintings. Happy Simming. Marg.
